How do you stand out from the crowd on LinkedIn?
Your profile is one of the most important statements on your LinkedIn account. Think of it as “How do I stand out in a busy market place” There are over 645 million users on LinkedIn so how can my profile differ from everyone else? What makes you different, more unique to all those other profiles out there!
Your LinkedIn Banner
One of the first things I would look at is your banner, choose an image which represents what you do either as a career or business, how do you help people what image shows and represents this, show your personal brand, make this image clear, try using a photo rather than a stock image. Add you strapline, email address and website so people can view this straight away. Remember most people only look at your profile for a few minutes before they go onto the next profile.

Shoulders upwards – a photo of you that represents your business, if it’s professional clients you are targeting look smart; more media-based clients look more casual, just think about your ideal clients, but always have a professional headshot done if possible, it speaks volumes about the impression you convey.
Your LinkedIn Headline
The second part of the profile would be your headline, so think of some great words which describe your career or your business – almost like a newspaper headline and optimise some of these words, this will help your headline to stand out and make it more searchable!
The About Section
Your summary is key to describe your WHY did you start the business, you behind the business, your expertise, skills, keywords and contact details with your interests so people get to know the person behind the business. If it’s for your career talk about how you achieved awards or your experience in the company, whom you worked with. Tailor it to your ideal clients and how you problem solve if you are a business!
